What is PTE ?

Types of PTE Exam
There are two main types of PTE exams:
- PTE Academic
- PTE General
PTE Academic:
- Purpose: This test is designed for individuals seeking admission to academic programs in English-speaking countries. It assesses English language proficiency in an academic context.
- Content: The test consists of four sections: Speaking and Writing, Reading, Listening, and an additional unscored section that may be used for research purposes.

PTE General:
- Purpose: PTE General is intended for general purposes such as immigration or employment. It evaluates the test-taker’s ability to use English in real-life situations.
- Levels: PTE General is divided into six levels, each reflecting a different level of English proficiency. The levels are A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient).
- Sections: The test assesses four language skills: Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. It also includes a separate section called “Grammar and Vocabulary.”
- Format: PTE General is a paper-based test. It focuses on practical communication skills and the ability to use English in everyday life.

PTE Exam Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates who wish to take the PTE Academic Exam must meet the following criteria:
- Age Limit: There is no specific age limit for taking the PTE Academic exam.
- Academic Qualifications: PTE Academic is designed for test-takers of all educational backgrounds. There are no specific academic qualifications required to take the test.
- Identification Documents: Test-takers usually need to present a valid and acceptable identification document on the day of the exam. The ID requirements may vary by country, so it’s crucial to review the specific requirements outlined by the PTE test center.
- English Language Proficiency Level: While there is no strict English language proficiency requirement to register for the PTE Academic exam, individuals taking the test should have a basic understanding of English language skills. PTE Exam duration:
The PTE exam duration for the Academic version is 2 hours 15 minutes. The duration for the PTE General version varies between 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes.
Receiving your PTE Score Report:
PTE results are usually announced within five days of the test. You’ll receive an email alert as soon as your scores are available. You can also log into your PTE account and check your results. You can also use the dashboard to send your score to any educational institution of your choice.
PTE Score Report Validity:
PTE Academic score reports are typically valid for up to two years from the date of the test. This means that test-takers can use their PTE Academic scores for admissions or visa applications within this two-year period.
